For a while now, at the end of every season, I tell myself that I’ve done my last mountain hunt. I can still get to where I need to go, but when I get there, my knees and lower back ache, and my lungs are pumping like a bellows at a hot forge. That’s when I ask myself, “Am I being reckless and pushing myself too hard?”
